The Inbox Repair Tool otherwise known as the Scanpst.exe is a Microsoft based tool for repairing the Personal Storage files (PST) and Offline Storage files (OST) of MS Outlook. It can be used if the MS Outlook is slogging or not responding. This tool scans the corrupt OST and PST files and restores them back in their normal positions. Scanpst.exe is even capable of resetting file structures and rebuilding headers. It is preinstalled in the system and located at - drive:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\LocaleID folder. This tool doesn't scan the MS Outlook but it scans only the personal storage files.
Similar to Inbox Repair tool there is another tool called the OST Integrity Check tool or Scanost.exe. Like the Scanpst tool it also resides in the program files - drive: \Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\LocaleID folder.
